Scopes Trial Play & Festival

Featuring "Front Page News," a play with music produced in collaboration with Crossville, Tennessee's renowned Cumberland County Playhouse, performed in the actual Rhea County Courthouse Scopes Trial Courtroom! Enjoy the re-enactment of portions of the Scopes-Evolution Trial of 1925, and also the story about how the famous trial came to be litigated in the small southern of Dayton, Tennessee!

Enjoy live "Front Page News" Play performances: Friday evenings, Saturday matinee and evening performances, and Sunday matinees, July 15-17 & July 23-24. For specific performance times and ticket ordering information please visit

The annual PumpkinFest is now a tradition in Downtown Dayton, Tennessee! The festival offers an alternative to traditional Halloween activities. Two days of Fall Festival Fun, Food, Games, Entertainment & Halloween festivities for the whole family!
